Measuring just 4" X 3" X 3 4" thick, this is a gorgeous small French marble sundial, with the iron gnomon still intact. This is a very scarce piece, the first of its kind we have offered. As the earth rotates on its axis, the gnomon casts a shadow onto the marble which is incised with Roman Numerals. Directly under the tip of the angled gnomon is XII, indicating noon.
