This example is very faintly marked on the front with a number, 76. The sling of this example is dated 1909 by Rock Island Arsenal, and is actually stamped at both ends of the strap with: MACH. GUN CO. 7TH INF. N. G. C. This would denote issue to the Machine Gun Company, 7th
