Description

fire-related personnel were very integral to its functions

possibly for Company or Battery A of the Battalion

The original leather thong for the liner drawcord is still present though in multiple pieces

The blade is 30 1/2 inches long

but do show a bit of verdigris that should easily clean away

Being a fully carved coconut shell with traditional naval and masonic symbols, the opening in the top represents the mouth with the two other still plugged holes representing the eyes of the "wind ". The first is a bit smaller, measuring 2 x 3, while the second is larger, being 4 x 5. The first & smaller Bugbear is named to C. Hodges
