Runs but probably needs tune up (plug, air and fuel filter) or H L T screw adjustments as idle may be low. We didn't use it on wood and we didn't run it long to get it up to temperature. Engine sounds fine. We didn't test the chain tensioner because the chain already has the proper tension on it, you might want to check that before you leave with
