This mask is dated 1942 under the right side gasket with a multitude of other numbers

and was organized on 8 June 1917

so this pistol did see some real use during its life

This Heavy Cavalry Saber, known as "Old Wristbreaker" among troops, was designated the U. S. Model of 1840, but was widely used in the War between the States on both sides. This example has the blade of an M 1840 "Old Wristbreaker" saber, but the hilt appears to be that of an M 1860 Light Cavalry Saber. This may have been done during the war by the soldier or a blacksmith, but has resulted in the blade being loose to
